This Morning. . .

This is how my life looks now. Some of it, at least.
But don't worry. I won't focus only
on my school books and school if I post here.

Up early. First things first. Coffeee and "Seek ye first the kingdom of God. . ." Then on to the treadmill with some notes to study. I found I can't study while running, but I can while walking, so I mix it up, adding some hills (inclines) to the workout, too. I've almost got the tech-stuff down entirely, so I guess my brain has a bit of flexibility left in it!

I've got some reading to do, then it's off to the laundromat to dry my clothes (my dryer plug does not work in this old house).

But, first, I really liked a story in my devotional this morning. It was about Paganini. He walked in front of an audience and realized he didn't have his own violin. Thinking there was a mix-up, he went backstage to find his own violin but found it had been stolen. He returned to stage and said that he would show the audience that music was not about the instrument itself--he would show them the soul of music, and he played his heart out to wild appreciation from the audience.

Then these words followed: "It is your mission, tested and tried one, to walk out on the stage of this world and reveal to all earth and Heaven that the music is not in conditions, not in the things, not in externals, but the music of your life is in your own soul."

Love that!

Have a lovely Wednesday.

  1. Wonderful words in your devotional reading this morning! Have your read A HOLY WAY by Paula Houston? Presently reading it in the Salem Library and hope to finish if before flying home to Florida.

Have you been to the Ebenezer Ever After play during the Christmas Season in Portland... If so did you enjoy it? Nancy

  4. Did you know you can change the plug on your dryer? I'm a military spouse and was once confronted with an older home that had the wrong type of plug. I just had to go to Home Depot and get the different plug in the appliance section -- for about $10 -- and then just unscrew the old (new) plug on my dryer and screw the old-fashioned plug on.

  5. I spot a green smoothie. Yum! And I love that you study sprawled on the floor. That's one of the best spots in my opinion!

  6. Your Paganini story brought another violin story up from my memory and I was able to find it at:

  7. Hi Susan,

I visited your High Desert Home often and so wonderful to find you blogging here. Praying for you. I enjoyed the devotional in Streams in the Desert too! May we be like Paganini so the music that comes from our souls, dependent on Him, is a beautiful sound to others. Your music is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

  8. I don't usually think of Paganini as devotional material (or even as being the most musical of composers), but I do really like the point! How often, on the day of a performance, seams open up and the bow develops a sudden need for a rehair! I'm sure the point can be transferred to much else in life.

And now I feel sure that you are posting after I go to sleep, but it's certainly nice to wake up to your posts, even if I am the Ping of Summer Notebook!

  10. Thanks, all! I always enjoy your comments. Nancy, I haven't seen the play, but I have read The Holy Way and really benefited from it! Thanks for the dryer tip, and, Diane, thanks for the link--I'll look at it! Glad you found me, Joyful Fox. :-) Laura, Ping--haha. Made me smile. Carmen, the devotion is from Streams in the Desert. Hi to the rest of you, too. I'm hurrying along, so sorry I can't say more right now. I do love to see your "faces" here, though. Every one of you. :-)
